The hydratation widget is not available as standard?

I am using my Garmin FR245M for a week now and I am very happy, but I can't see the hydration widget on my watch.

I've already tried to display it via 'Edit Widget List - Add Widget' https://www8.garmin.com

Imanuals/webhelp/forerunner245/EN-NUGUlD-61 C825F5-5D80413F-BA3F-CD8C51 BB63F2.html

The Hydration widget will then not be in the list. What to do?

  • Hi you can install the Garmin Hydration widget from the Garmin Connect IQ store https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/6cb03839-6c01-42ac-8acf-6c54801cc9ae

  • I didn't know about this widget I don't understand it why do we need our own bodies to be told when go drink? Next we will need a widget to tell us when to *** and breath

  • It doesn't tell you when to go and drink, its purpose is to log how much water you have consumed during the day.  As your watch estimates how much fluid you lose during exercise it can serve as a useful reminder of how much to drink to stay properly hydrated.

Unfortunately, another example of someone jumping in with an opinion without getting any of the facts first.

  • "It doesn't tell you when to go and drink"... "it can serve as a useful reminder of how much to drink to stay properly hydrated"

So it tells you when to drink then. I know when to drink it's when I am thirsty. The hotter it is or the more I'm running the more I get thirsty lol

  • No, it doesn't tell you when to drink, if my run estimates that I've lost 500ml during a run, then when I log it on the app I know if I've had enough or need some more.  It's hardly rocket science now is it.

  • Lol so why you making it rocket science just drink when you're thirsty it ain't rocket science Rofl I'm running 260km a week up 5000m weekly elevation in 33C don't need no fancy watch to tell me about my hydration to get fitter I just put the work in

  • Good for you, so why are you posting on a fancy watch forum then if you just put the work in?

No, it doesn't tell you when to drink

There's nothing wrong with tracking how much you drank if you feel the need to do so, but if you need to set a reminder to tell you to drink water, then yeah, your letting an inanimate object tell you when to drink.  What did you do before this app?  Stay constantly dehydrated in a state of confusion because no one or nothing told you to drink water?

if my run estimates that I've lost 500ml during a run, then when I log it on the app I know if I've had enough or need some more.

So, you believe your watch can guess how much fluids you lost on your run and you then base your intake ("had enough or need some more") on that?  Do you stop at 500ml if that's what your watch guessed you lost in fluids if you're still thirsty too?

  • You could extend this argument to all aspects of the watch, do you let it tell you how long to rest before exercising again? Do you let it tell you how well you slept? Do you let it tell you what to do based on suggested workouts? If yes, then you're letting an inanimate object control your life.  I don't even have the hydration widget installed, just describing how it works.

  • Yeah I'm guilty of enjoying the fancy watch but a hydration widget is just silly maybe that's why it's on the iq store and not default.
