Suggested workouts paces!

Installed the beta yesterday and was curious about the suggested workouts. While the workouts suggested over the 2 days are okay, they are Base workouts. However at a pace thats actually more tempo pace for me. Wanted to hear more from others and keep this thread on to track if it gets better over time.

  • based on the suggestion, I have reset my heart rate to the default zones on the watch. Since the watch is setup to automatically detect the Max heart rate, i'm going to let it take a few weeks to recalibrate the Vo2max and see if it makes a difference. I doubt it but I'll try regardless, I doubt my Max HR changes. I may not hit the max hr on every week I know what it is.

  • Jeet, what I personally do for my max heart rate each season is I'll pick a 5k, go all out, and base my max heart rate on that effort. I have max heart rate detection turned on as well so that if I do push higher than it updates but usually it's a change in plus 1 to 3 tops. It's easiest to get your heart rate high while you're less in shape which is why I do that test 5k as a benchmark early on it normally will get me pretty close to what the number should be, (29, currently my max heart rate is at 193, the 220 is fairly close for me though I know it's not for a lot of others). 

    There are a few other tests you can do as well. I've included a link to How VO2 max is calculated. If you lowered your max heart rate your VO2 max should lower as well, which will cause your projected race time's to go down, and along side that should cause your suggested workout paces to go down.

  • That makes sense. It hit 199 when i was ramping up from lower fitness levels and it recorded that. I never hit that number again lol

  • I'm new to this watch and feels exactly the same. It wants an easy run (yay!) but 9-10 mim/mile which is definitely at least 'moderate'. I've got a 50 minute 10k goal pace and it tells me its confidence is high I'll accomplish this, but easy and that piece certainly aren't one and the same. I thought the watch would calibrate based on my stats, as to what is easy for me?
