Show upcoming turn info on same screen as pace?

Hi folks,

With my new Forerunner 245 I like to run following a course while trying to maintain a pace. I want to have the current pace displayed on the same screen as the upcoming turn info (e.g. in 200m slight right turn). The map screen constantly shows the upcoming turn info, no matter how far away it is (here sharp left in 155m):

The screen with the pace (and other running data fields) briefly shows which way to turn when I'm at the turn, or about 20m before, but this isn't really enough warning:

Currently I'm having to scroll between the map screen and the running data screen, but this is inconvenient. Is there any way to get this turn info onto the running data screen permanently? Or get it to alert me sooner than 20m before? Or alternatively display the pace on the map screen? The closest thing I've found is to add to the running data screen distance to next and next waypoint fields:

But this is not great - it is much easier to see a little arrow than read text saying e.g. "Slt. right" in a small font. Yes I can put the distance to next in a smaller field than in the photo but it would be nice if the arrow and the distance were in the same field.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks a lot.

Alex

I see.  I think I found your answer in this forum 10 months back.

But it is an option on higher end devices that come with maps.

You're referring to the "Map" data page which is actually on option on some devices that don't have literal maps (e.g. 935).

It's similar to the navigation map screen, *but*:

    - it doesn't have the next turn info

    - it allows you to add 2 additional data fields of your choice

    - it stays in the activity whether or not you're navigating (which is actually a good thing, at least IMO)

Even if the 245 has this page (which I think it does, see below), it probably won't help the OP because it doesn't show next turn info. I do prefer it to the navigation map screen because I like to be able to see the map along with Lap Pace and Distance to Next all on one page. But if you add it to an activity, then you *won't* see the navigation map screen with next turn info.

This is what mine looks like (935):

I think the 245 has this data page because the manuals for both 935 and 245 have identical information about it.

    935 manual:

Adding a Map to an Activity

You can add the map to the data screens loop for an activity.

    1. From the watch face, hold .
    2. Select Settings > Activities & Apps.
    3. Select the activity to customize.
    4. Select the activity settings.
    5. Select Data Screens > Add New > Map.

    245 manual:

Adding a Map to an Activity

You can add the map to the data screens loop for an activity.

    1. From the watch face, hold UP.
    2. Select Settings > Activities & Apps.
    3. Select the activity to customize.
    4. Select the activity settings.
    5. Select Data Screens > Add New > Map.
  • I found nothing on adding the turn notice icon to every data field.  Have you checked to see if there's an app that will do this in the IQ store?

Connect IQ apps don't have access to the next turn icon, unfortunately.
