Software Update 6.20 Feedback

Software Update 6.20 is now available for the Forerunner 245 and Forerunner 245 Music. These updates can be downloaded through Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile.

Changes made from 5.50 to 6.20

  • Improve the software update process for external accessories. Installation prompts will now appear after an activity to avoid interrupting activity start.
  • Added support for displaying metrics from an indoor rowing machine that supports the ANT FE-C profile (e.g. Concept 2 with the PM5 module). This includes new fields for the Indoor Rowing app: Distance, Pace, and Stroke Distance.
  • Added descriptive workout step audio prompts.
  • Improvements to heart rate broadcast.
  • Add more smartphone app logos for smart notifications.
  • Block music controls and disconnect headphones in airplane mode. Forerunner 245 Music only
  • Fix dropout issues on Jaybird Vista headphones. Forerunner 245 Music only
  • Fix a rare issue that could cause heart rate data to appear flat in Garmin Connect.
  • Fix an issue that could prevent LiveTrack from starting when Auto Start is enabled.
  • Fix an issue with workout alerts when the background color is set to black.
  • Fix an issue sometimes causing distance remaining to not display the hundredths digit.
  • Other minor improvements and bug fixes.

  • Have you tried a soft reset? Hold top left button for 20 seconds. My cadence tracking stopped working in the past couple of days and advice elsewhere was to try the soft reset, which worked.

Garmin "updates" sure seem to break a lot...

  • Same problem. Over an hour with tech support ended up “try back Monday”. Garmin has turned my watch into a black bracelet. The support staff has no info at all on the problem and just goes through the same old reset, reload, cycle on off nonsense.

  • This software made connection issues worse.  Over an hour with tech support ended up “try back Monday”. Garmin has turned my watch into a black bracelet. The support staff has no info at all on the problem and just goes through the same old reset, reload, cycle on off nonsense.

  • did a reset to factory setting and it works again.

Having used garmin watches for more than 10 years, I had the feeling that quality of updates got better in the recent years. But made sure that auto updates are turned off after this experience - do not want to have surprises prior to a race or important training session. Thanks Garmin for investing further into software quality!

  • Yeah, I did the routine 4 times, 3 with their tech logged into my profile. Nothing. After 10 years and 3 watches put into retirement after hard use, I’m shopping for a new partner.

  • The Jabra Elite 65/75 earphones have constant sound problems only in GPS mode.

  • I have the 75t earphones. Works fine for me with my 945

  • CRASHED

Was using the Pacepro in an 18 mile run and the watch crashed. The Pacepro was them lost when it came back.

First time using the feature, and it happened half way through. Was not listening to music and had my phone with me.

  • Dropout issue to jaybird Vista is significantly worse with 6.20. I just went for a 30 min run and completely dropped the connection 5 times. Before the update it happened that I lost one bud or the other but it typically recovered in <20 seconds. Come on Garmin SW people, you are better than this!
