Connectivity issues with Garmin Forerunner 245 Music and Sony WF-XB700 earphones (music cuts off and is intermittent)

The earphones sync fine and play music when fine when not running, but when you start an activity the music cuts off completely and eventually comes back on but is very intermittent - which is very frustrating.

I bought these earphones to go with this watch, and the earphones work perfectly with my phone and laptop so this is an issue with the Garmin watch.

Please can a software update be made to address this issue.

  • Same!  I found if I connect my earbuds to the watch, pause the music, acquire GPS, start my run, then after about 3 minutes I can go back to the music and play it.  This usually works for at least 45 minutes.  After that, I sometimes have to pause the music for a few minutes then start it back up again.

    Somebody please fix this.

  • Same for Airpods and a bunch of others.

Garmin claimed they fix the issue in the latest version but they certainly didn't

  • Hi per this article, I Am Having Reception Issues When Using My Bluetooth Headphones with My Garmin Music Watch

    • Regarding it occurring when you start an activity, do you notice a difference if you say run on a treadmill vs running outside?
  • That article is pointless.  It's a software bug introduced a couple of updates ago.  Surely you've had enough feedback now to know that? Especially when people are saying rolling back their Bluetooth software to 5.x fixes it.

It does not disconnect when inside/on a treadmill.  Please just roll back the BT software and the problem will be fixed.

It's amazing such a major bug like this hasn't been fixed and has been happening for a couple of months now.  Do any of your staff use BT headphones with their watches?

  • Hi, I purchased these yesterday and was having the same issue.

After hours of of trying to find a solution I had a break through.

    1) Sync the earphones as normal

    2) open music or playlist and press play

    3) Go to your activity that you want ( the music will cut out )

    4) press the button on the Right ear. I can’t remember if I held it for one or two seconds.

    5) the music should start playing

    6) press start for your activity

I went for an hour run and it didn’t cut out once and the quality was great. Apart from wishing they were a bit smaller, they did the job

This is in response to the original question for the Sony earphones.

  • Same issue here and it is really annoying.  This needs to be fixed immediately.

  • Same with Fenix 6 series

  • I called support and spoke to Ginger. She was very helpful and said it is a known issue and they are working on it. She also states that jay bird headphones seem to have the worst problems. She suggested performing a reset of my 245 music has worked in some cases according to her notes. I am happy to say the reset did work and my wireless buds work like they used to now, without any cutting out!! I would reset your watch and try it. Hope this helps someone.

  • Question, which reset?

    Reset Default

    Reset Totals

    Delete Data and Reset Settings?

    Thanks
