LiveTrack/Beacon Bugs?

Strava Beacon has never worked for me on my Garmin Forerunner 245. Even when I start the LiveTrack manually it kicks off a Garmin email but never initiates the Strava beacon. I have disabled, re-enabled etc. but still no luck.

On the LiveTrack note, even my Garmin LiveTrack doesn't kick off if I have a course loaded. If no course then the LiveTrack starts automatically like it should, but with course loaded (happens on both running and biking), it just forgets to start. I have to go into the app and manually start it. Seems like one of many bugs.

I assume you're a strava subscriber (summit member)? If so, do you have Strava Beacon toggled on in your LiveTrack settings on your phone? Are your Strava and Garmin accounts linked? https://www.strava.com/settings/apps. That's the basic stuff, which you probably have already addressed, but wanted to be sure.

Sorry, I should have mentioned the troubleshooting steps I took. Yes, I am a Strava subscriber, I toggled all the settings, checked both Strava and Garmin and both say the accounts are linked up, I have followed both Garmin and Strava's guides for setting this up. I know the two are talking because my workouts sync to Strava and the courses on Strava show up on my Garmin. It's like the Beacon service just doesn't start for some reason. I'm wondering if I'm the only one or is this a bug?

Mine definitely works. As soon as I start any outdoor activity my wife gets a text stating that she's a safety contact. Are you android or iOS? Have you checked the permission settings on your phone? On my Garmin app I have allowed contacts, location, phone, and SMS. On strava I have allowed contacts and location. Also need safety contacts setup with the strava app - Record > Beacon > Edit Safety Contacts. Also check you have "Beacon" and "Beacon on Garmin" toggled on.

I really appreciate the help. I double checked all the things you suggested and I'm still at a loss. I'm using iOS and I checked all the permissions and safety contacts. All look to be in order. I can start the beacon natively through strava no problem (I just tried it with my wife to make sure it still worked). I may just have to start over and un-link Strava and then re-link it again to see if i have any luck....kinda strange.

That would have been my next suggestion.

Thanks for the link that was very helpful! I followed your steps and unfortunately I'm still getting the same result. Just as a test I enabled LiveTrack, but turned off Garmin's emails and only turned on the Strava Beacon within Garmin Connect. When I started a test run workout it told me LiveTrack failed. It's puzzling but something somewhere is not allowing that feature to work. I guess I'll stick with the LiveTrack for now.

You are not the only one. I got my Vivoactive 4s in June and it has never worked for me either.

Disappointed this thread did not resolve the issue, as now I still don't know what to do. My safety contact (spouse) does't check his email constantly. The ability to simply send a text with my beacon/tracker link is an extremely important feature for our peace of mind.
