Unstable connection with HRM Run

It seems like the connection interrupts and the 245M gets the data from my wirst until it reconnects again (during a run).

The HR drops from 150 bpm to 125 and then back to 150 for example. Anyone facing these issues as well?

  • I'm with you on this one. Haven't researched possible issues with 645M.

I will miss some features, namely:

    • Abnormal Heart Rate Alerts
    • Pulse Ox Blood Oxygen Saturation
    • Body Battery Energy Monitor
    • PacePro Pacing Strategies

    but the gain is awesome:

    • Barometric altimeter
    • Gyroscope
    • Thermometer
    • Garmin Pay
    • Floors climbed
    • Elevation profile
    • Vertical speed
    • Total ascent/descent
  • Can anyone confirm that latest beta 4.87 fixes HRM Run connectivity issue?

  • Can’t say anything about 4.87 but I got my FR645M. The problem still exists when using the HRM Run! I will get my cash back on the heart rate monitor as well and just run with the wrist sensor. It’s still good. I believe that Garmin is selling a promise here, they can’t hold. Otherwise the FR645M is a much better looking, more comfortable watch with a compass and altimeter.

  • Congrats on 645M. I was about to upgrade to that but got the news it has the same issues with the heart rate monitor. Can you try to upgrade that to its corresponding Beta and let us now if helps with HRM-Run?

  • Already passed my hrm run on to the shop because of the customer complaint. Would definitely have tested it for you guys if I would still own on. Keen on getting your feedbacks on this one. Can still recommend to change to 645M though.

  • The poblem still persist with 4.87, i dont use hrm-run, i use another brand and i have no problem with my other fenix 5 plus using it on same conditions, so problem is related to f245

I have the same problem on my Forerunner 245 (non music). I earlier had a Fenix 5 which was fine with no droputs but 245 keeps dropping the HRM run as well as stryd. IT is very annoying.

  • I have the same problem. This is insane!

I have an older 230 + heart strap in a bundle. Now I bought the 245 (without music) and the HRM-run strap. The 230 has always been nice and smooth (no drops!) since I have it (more than 4-5 years now).

The 245 has drops on the first run with the HRM-run!

I did a few tests to narrow down the problem:

    • both 230 and 245 connected to the (good) old strap -> no drops with 245, no drops with 230 (I knew that ;))
    • both 230 and 245 connected to the HRM-run -> drops with 245, no drops with 230

There are only three drops in a 10k run, but they are huge and cannot be explained with the vibration. One is about 30 seconds long, the other two are about 15 seconds.

    On the 245 I run firmware 5.30, GPS: 4.60, ANT/BLE/BT: 6.06, Hub 6.02

    On the 230I run firmware 8.20, GPS: 3.30 ANT/BLE/BT: 2.50
