Unstable connection with HRM Run

Former Member
Former Member

It seems like the connection interrupts and the 245M gets the data from my wirst until it reconnects again (during a run).

The HR drops from 150 bpm to 125 and then back to 150 for example. Anyone facing these issues as well?

Oliver does your chart improved after downgrade to 4.20 or 4.29?

  • Frankly speaking i don't know ... I did a different test yesterday with an old HRM from Garmin (HRM3-SS) using 4.40 ...and i got only 1 fail (ont two hours) ...
I will downgrade (again!)  today and see what happend
I ll keep you in touch

  • Okay. In short: we are stuck :(
The system is ALWAYS updating the firmware with the latest version (4.40 for us). We can delay the update (now or tonight) but that's it.
The latest firmware is downloaded when using Garmin Express or when synchronizing via Wifi.
The XML file (GarminDevice.xml) is updated at startup, during synchronization (perhaps more often), and, thus, all the modifications made are deleted (for example: GUPDATE.GCD).
I also tried to change the attribute of the file ... without success.
I'm afraid there is no option but to wait for new firmware ...

For me, it is a solution. I've removed Auto Update and Wifi on the watch, don't sync via Garmin Express. Sync only via Garmin Connect app on mobile.

  • Why not;)

I just did a test with 4.20 and HRM-DUAL ..and still got a "hole" in cardio ... just one ...
I wonder if it is not related to the *new* SensorHub ...

Now, same configuration but i'll move to 4.40

    <to be continued>

I'm on 4.29, Sensor Hub 3.20, ANT/BLE/BT 5.04. Let's see how my speed workout tomorrow will go. Last weak with 4.40 I've got like 16 holes in pulse chart.

We are using the exact same FW but I’m still getting the drops. Let us know how it worked during your workout tomorrow

  • Analysis made by @  makes sense !
I checked previous graphs, and i can see that the drops appears on each watch vibration (e.g. on HR alert)
But it doesn't occur on LAP notification.
    ANT: 5.04 / Hub: 3.20

Unfortunate news, I’ve got 12 drops in the run today. Sorry for setting false hopes. It’s just one run without the drops made me believe that I’ve found the solution. Moving forward with a warranty for the watch. Sob

  • I just ran test and the solution proposed by @BEATmeHH is good. To don't lose HR signal at each screen change (during split run), Desactivate vibrations !

Do you know if garmin team searche to solve this bug ? is there a site with all the bugs referenced?

I saw they launched a FW4.41 beta but no mention of this problem.
