White spot on Garmin Forerunner 245

I bought my Forerunner 245 (no music) in May of this year and have been really happy with the product. However, a big white spot appeared recently and it has not gone away after about 5 days. The spot is even there when the watch is turned off. Is there anything I can do about this?

  • I got the Garmin Forerunner 245 music for Xmas (4 days ago), first opened it to use on the 27th December, ran with it two times for a total of 16 km. Left it charging overnight and woke up to a non-working screen.

The spot appears to be in a place where a lot of the other screen shots have it, in the lower right, though mine has no other display shown. I can hear the phone working when I hit 'Back' and the voice talks about laps, so I know it is the screen.

I must say the website allowing you to look for support is fairly confusing. This forum page mentioned that there is a form to fill out and I went around in circles trying to find it, but it does not seem to exist. I also found a 'chat' button but it said it does not work with my device (a Samsung Galaxy android), so I borrowed my wifes apple phone and it said it does not work for that device either (what else is there?) but the chat page mentioned that we could call a number between 7am and 7pm CST, but this is on the Australian site so no idea what that timezone is (US?), and mentions you can chat via email, but I cannot find an email address.

If i flick across from the 'Chat' to the 'Call' it has different times of open from 8:30 am. I would love to see a form/email, so I do not need to wait till office hours to be able to issue my request

I'm not sure why your image says "Tacx support." Regardless, I would wait until you can speak with someone or chat. The email method works, but it could take weeks to get a resolution, especially if there are follow-up questions from support.

  • This happened to my watch last year and I was provided with a new one, but now it's happening all over again.  You guys should fix this issue. Now I live in an other country so I don't think I'll get to replace mine.

  • I should add that I called Garmin Support, took a few photos of the problem and got my proof of purchase, gave a few details and they replaced the watch. I had to pay to send it back so that probably cost me 15 bucks, but otherwise the process of replacement was good and relatively quick (they don't send the new one till they receive the old one). I am yet to run with the new one, might try it out today, but hopefully won't see the same problem.

  • Have the exact same spot on mine VA3. This is a clearly a manufacture defect.

  • I have the same problem. poor product quality

  • Yes clearly a manufacturing defect. If you live in the US get a replacement. Outside the US bad luck pay for repair. Like rubbing salt in the wound.

  • Yes clearly a manufacturing defect. Even replacement watches having the same problem. I live in Thailand, have to pay almost what it cost to have repaired. Till the next time it fails that is.

  • Mine failed after just on a year. When I first contacted Garmin they said send it back and will replace it. Then I told them I live in Thailand. They said pay to have it repaired. Rubs salt into the wound that does.

  • I bought a Garmin Forerunner 245 on the 27th January 2020. I noticed a white spot on the screen which is gradually getting better. I called and requested a refund as I am well within my warranty period. Your staff was very unhelpful and non co-operative.

I was told that I have to pay the return postage. Apparently it's free for just six months. I think that's unaccaptable as I did not read it in any of your tearm and conditions. I am well within my warrently period and it's solely manufacture's fault.

And also I was told that I would have to wait atleast seven days becaue the product would have to be quarentined first! I am a medical doctor and struggling to understand the science behind this 'Quarentine'. I am training for an ultra marathon and I need my watch as soon as possible.
