White spot on Garmin Forerunner 245

I bought my Forerunner 245 (no music) in May of this year and have been really happy with the product. However, a big white spot appeared recently and it has not gone away after about 5 days. The spot is even there when the watch is turned off. Is there anything I can do about this?

  • Right?I? I am so frustrated with Garmin--I replaced my Vivoactiv 3 after it failed to hold a charge and paid an up fee to get this 245 and now this!!! This is really bad, bad, bad customer service!!!

  • My only take--if this is a problem--and it IS!!! Just look at the thread--and it's growing by the day--a refurbished watch is NOT the answer--I have owned over 5 Garmin (I choose to up grade) and have NEVER., EVER had a problem like this before--and spending $300 plus or more for a device that does not do near what other sports devices do and then only offering a refurbished replacement is NOT a solution...betcha that will happened to that one too!

  • My Garmin 245 developed the SAME issues after only 10 months of ownership--after reading that Garmin is offering refurbished models (which is not acceptable in my book) and reading that one person had this a happened over the course of two devices, is there any way I to upgrade to a different model and I just pay the difference?

  • after reading that Garmin is offering refurbished models (which is not acceptable in my book)

Why?  This is what you agreed to when you made the purchase.

1 Year Consumer Limited Warranty Policy

Garmin's non-aviation products are warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Within this period, Garmin will, at its sole option, repair or replace any components that fail in normal use.

  • Interesting information. I shall remember this when I shall buy my next sport watch...Thank you.

  • My watch developed an enlarging spot as well, after warranty expired. I online chatted with a Garmin rep in customer service, and within 2 hours a new watch was shipped to me for free. They have great customer service from my experience, and seem fair.

  • After 14 months I’ve got the same. Just emailed Garmin. Fingers crossed I get a replacement.

  • I developed a white spot after 18 months. I chatted online with a rep, and after 10 minutes it was settled. I received a new watch in the mail within a week! I was very impressed and happy with the customer service. I just had to put a deposit down, and will get fully refunded when they receive my old watch.

  • Same happened to my wife's watch. Took the watch to dealer, replaced it right away. No questions asked :)

  • I had this issue happening to me twice already. What am I going to do when the warranty expires in 5 months? It seems that you guys are NOT addressing the issue at all. It might be cheaper for you guys replace those units under warranty,  then let the warranty expire and complete let the customer down with the only option to buy a new model or unit. I am very disappointed with Garmin.
