Rounds lap pace to 5 sec?

Does the Forerunner 245 round lap pace to 5 sec (ie showing 3:55 when actual lap pace is 3:53)?

I understand the GPS system isn’t more accurate than this, but I still find it disturbing.

No, lap pace averages the instantaneous paces (which are rounded to 5 seconds) so you'll see 3:53.

Actually this is incorrect: it should say 3:53, but Garmin intentionally rounds lap pace to 5 sec above (so 3:55) on the FR45 series. This is driving me nuts and even if I wanted to buy another Garmin because of that, how can I know which watch does it and which doesn't.

I'm afraid you're mistaken. Lap paces are definitely not rounded to 5 seconds. Instantaneous paces are rounded.

Double check which field your watch is displaying. I was running yesterday looking at lap paces of 3:22.

I'm sorry, I didn't see I was on the 245 series. My issue is with the Forerunner 45 which does round its lap pace to the above 5s :((( (see https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/running-multisport/f/forerunner-45-series/171382/lap-pace-rounds-to-nearest-5-sec)
