The Garmin 'save and calibrate' function doesn't amend the fit file data stored on the watch, it only adds extra meta data so that Connect shows the distance you stated that you ran. When the fit file is transferred to Strava, the extra meta data is not and thus you end up with your incorrect run distance, even after calibration. I must say I've been horrified by the 'save and calibrate' feature with my 245. I did it after the first treadmill run that was overestimated and now it hardly registers half the distance I run, despite 'save and calibrate' after each run to attempt to correct it. Looking into trying to reset it completely at the moment, which is how I stumbled across this thread.

I would recommend you to return it asap from where you bought it. I bought mine 2.5. months ago and can’t return it. I have the same problem as you and all the people here and waiting for a resolution for more than 3 weeks now. Garmin doesn’t seem to be capable to fix the issue. I’m pretty sure the programmers are very busy now with the release of Vivoactive 4 and Venu models. They don’t care much about us, we already bought a product, why bother fixing the issues. Shame on you Garmin. I’m extremely frustrated, I paid a lot of money for the 245 Music version, I also bought the Garmin RD pod. Wasted money, I will never ever buy Garmin again
