2.70 - Awful battery life?

My 245M upgraded yesterday, then I fully recharged it before leaving work.

SP02 was enabled, and I wore it overnight, but have not used GPS/Music or recorded any activities.

I'm down 30% in less than 24 hours right now. That's a pretty major dropoff in battery life.

Has anyone else experienced the same?

I charged my phone on the 29th and it’s now at 38 percent. I run with a stryde footpod and the Suunto smartbelt. 5-20ish miles. If your battery is bad check your settings. I don’t sleep with the Sp02 on and I have all phone notifications off. I think it’s a running watch and not and Apple Watch so I don’t need that crap. Hope this helps

  • Try again with Pulse Ox off while sleeping. That alone can have a big impact on battery.  In fact, when you turn it on with GCM, you get a warning that it will significantly impact the battery life.

    ^This

  • Updated yesterday afternoon via USB, which also charged it to 100%, then powered the watch off and back on again. Slept with it on (no SpO2).   It's about 15 hours since updating and I have 98% battery.  Seems OK.

  • Thanks for the tips everyone, I must have missed that warning. I think the issue is bigger than just pulse ox though. If I'm correct, that only measures overnight correct?

I just did a 45 minute run with GPS/Music and lost 30%, even with tracking set to smart. Maybe that's normal, but coming from a 235 it seems very high drain.

Is that with GPS only or GPS+GLONASS? Also music really kills the battery.

  • Music seems to have a larger impact than GPS

Absolutely, that’s why music more then halves our battery time

  • For all my runs I've calculated will get about 250mins from gps+music on a run. GPS smart mode. About to go for an hr run with gps+glonass+music (non smart mode) Will let u know my findings

  • Smart tracking shouldn't affect battery. The watch is still collecting GPS at the same rate, it just doesn't write all the points to the file to save space.

I expect about 10% battery loss per hour of GPS usage, so for a 45 minute run I'd expect 7-10% battery loss. I have the non-music 245 so I don't know how much music affects  battery life.
