No vo2max info for cycling activity?

Hi,

There is no vo2 max info for cycling activities in the connect app when I go to Performance Stats... Only for running activities. Why?

Power data is required for cycling VO2 Max values to be calculated. The Forerunner 245 is not compatible with cycling power meters so it is unable to support this metric.

For cycling VO2max you need power data. Do you have a power meter on your bike?

Oh, wait. I think the FR245 does not support power meters anyway. So no cycling VO2max for you.

So if there is a V02 value for walking, why not for cycling?

Because cycling VO2max cannot be calculated without power data.

By the way, the recovery time can't be correct! 45 hours is a bit long for a…

Thanks for your reply. I checked the manual and it says the following:

" The Forerunner^® device requires wrist-based heart rate or a compatible chest heart rate monitor to display your VO2 max. estimate."

It doesn't mention an external device like a power meter...

Again, why do I then have VO2 data for the walking activity?

That's for running. All that is needed for running VO2max is pace and heart rate.

For cycling it's not possible to calculate a VO2max estimate without power data. The science to do it does not exist, quite simply. Without knowing how hard you pedal, how can the watch gauge your effort against your performance?

I insist, i have a garmin edge, but the data doesn´t show up in the watch. That´s the idea o Physio TrueUp or i'm missing something?

I don't have power meter, but got "0" value of VO2max with text description that it's very bad with me ! :-D

A bit strange approach..I'd expect there text information that I need to buy Power meter.

Nevertheless, what is the cheapest solution to get VO2max for cycling for Forerunner 245. Will it work with chect band
