Power data is required for cycling VO2 Max values to be calculated. The Forerunner 245 is not compatible with cycling power meters so it is unable to support this metric.
For cycling VO2max you need power data. Do you have a power meter on your bike?
Oh, wait. I think the FR245 does not support power meters anyway. So no cycling VO2max for you.
So if there is a V02 value for walking, why not for cycling?
Because cycling VO2max cannot be calculated without power data.
By the way, the recovery time can't be correct! 45 hours is a bit long for a…
Nope. See DCR's review: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/04/garmin-forerunner-245-music-gps-watch-in-depth-review.html
"It's actually a pretty extensive list, though it doesn’t support connecting to cycling power meters or cycling shifting systems (Di2/eTAP)."
They want you to buy a much more expensive multisport watch like Fenix 5, 935, or 945 for that.
The same could be said for other feature you find in the higher end watches that you don't see in the midrange ones.
No, I don't have a power meter.
But there is a green check next to V02 max for "Training, planning and analysis features":

I had a short walk during launch and used the walking activity.
It showed a V02 max value:

Depends on your fitness level. If the device thinks your heart rate was extremely high for this walk, then this might result in a high recovery time.
Or perhaps the 45h recovery time was carried over from a previous, much harder workout. A long recovery time does not get overwritten by later less intense workouts.
