Button click quality very bad

From the time I bought my 245 replacing the 235, I noticed that the buttons are very hard to press, produce a very strong "click" sound, they seem to have two levels of pressing, and also the pressing is inconsistent: sometimes it is clicky, sometimes not. In comparison to my old 235, they feel very bad and the quality seems worse. Maybe it has to do with the mechanism for the water ressistance, but still, the feeling is very bad: the watch feels cheap because of that.

Did you notice the same in your device?

  • I guess that for the moment I am one of the lucky ones, or it's only the unfortunate buyers that are replying.  Had the 245 for slightly more than 2 months, used on a daily basis, either running or walking, almost always using the music, so lots of button pushed.  The only button I do not use much is the light ( top left) because it comes on automatically.

If I go through each button, there is a very faint click at the end of each push on all the buttons and none of them feel mushy.

I do not know if it makes any difference but I am in Europe, so might not be the same batch as those on the American side of the pond.

It's important also to give positive feedback..  Might give some hope to those that will get their watch exchanged...

  • Unfortunately I found this to be a problem on my watch out of-the-box. The Down button does not have definitive click in contrast to the others. Very disappointing from Garmin.

  • You replied this on my thread and closed it so I could not respond to you. I’ve contacted Garmin Netherlands but they are non responsive even after almost 3-4 weeks, terrible service, maybe you can reach out to them and tell them to respond to their customers with product issues.

  • my forerunner 245 had problems with the HR sensor and it failed.

I had it replaced. The replacement unit has the mushy button. noticed it in the first 5 minutes. the button travel is very weird , like in two stages. also a bit disappointed about garmin :(
