Multiplied display during activity on Forerunner 165 Music

I have problem with display during activity. If I start any activity, after some while the display is multiplied. It works, the activity can be saved. It occurs only during activity. I have all actual updates, I tried to turn on/turn off. I also updated it via Garmin Express. But it still happens. Please, do you have any experience with this? Thank you.

  • As you can see, mine is having the same issue. Very annoying as I only bought it at Xmas.  I have opened a ticket with support, been invited to enrol in ‘Beta’ to install an update and then feedback to them if this works!!! Not happy about being a Guinea pig for their bug-fix!
    Anybody else tried this?
Can’t believe this has only happened to a handful of us??

  • I am also experiencing this too! For those who have put in a ticket to Garmin, has Garmin gotten back to you with a solution to this issue?

  • I am also experiencing this issue too! For those who have reached out to Garmin, has Garmin reached back out to you with a resolution to this issue?

  • Garmin told me to send it in for a repair. If they couldnt fix it I would get a recertified unit back. No thanks... Id rather wait for a software update than get someone elses watch back.

  • It's strange that only some units have the issue. I'm a software dev and I know it can be difficult, but I also assume they can look at the source code to see what changed between versions. It might be helpful to get a sample of a watch that has the issue to diagnose it better.

Recertified should have some new parts, e.g. battery. strap, etc. and checked for defects. Might not be such a bad deal.

  • I just chatted with support and they asked for a picture.

This is what i was told.

You have been added you to the case, we are still working on this software update and will email you with updates. Since it is a software issue we are not exchanging at this time but recommend to wait for the email with updates.

  • I just spoke with Garmin too. They told me that their engineers are aware of the issue and once resolved, they would notify me. I asked how they would notify me and the customer service rep stated they did not know and that it might be an update that they push through. Just frustrating because I am currently training for a marathon and rely so heavily on my watch during runs (as I am sure we all do who are having this same issue). Just very frustrating.

  • Did you ever try their Beta they offered? Just curious if it worked.

  • You all are a lot more patient than me! My watch has been doing this for a month now. I am furious! The entire purpose of this watch is to help me do my quality runs, which I cannot do without seeing the screen and my paces. Garmin has been EXTREMELY unhelpful saying “eventually we will release a new software to fix the bug.” Well in the meantime I have two races in the next two weeks and I would like to know my paces when running them. This is the WORST customer service and quality control. If you sell me a faulty product then at least refund me my money. The entire watch is completely useless to me like this! And a month is long enough to wait for a fix!

  • I haven’t tried their Beta program as when I checked out the forum relating to Beta some of their users reported further problems.
They also complained that they were unable to roll-back to a previous version of software updates so in effect, they had acquired even more issues!
