Connectivity issues between HRM-Pro Plus and Forerunner 955
(during stationary activities – breathing exercises, yoga)

While the devices (HRM-Pro Plus and Forerunner 955) stay connected continuously during movement, the situation is different when I perform stationary activities (e.g. breathing exercises or yoga).

For the first 3–5 minutes the devices remain connected, but then the connection is “lost,” as if the HRM-Pro Plus goes into a sleep/idle state.

Has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone know what might be causing it?

  • Not sure whether it is really the case, but I can imagine that dry electrodes could be the problem. When you move, you sweat, keeping the electrodes wet and conductive, but at static activities the skin remains dry, and the electrodes may not have sufficiently conductive contact. In your place I'd buy a ECG gel in the pharmacy, and put a gentle layer of it on the electrodes. Be sure to wash the strap carefully after the use, to avoid residua of the gel in the strap material. The gel is cheap, and the tube contains enough gel for a decade.
