HRM pro plus and Garmin watch.

Hi all, I currently have a Garmin forerunner 255 and I do a mixture of treadmill running and outdoor running, but am toying with the idea of getting a Garmin HRM pro plus strap as well. But my question is what extra data does the HRM pro plus strap record that the forerunner watch doesn't record?

I know that the watch does record treadmill runs but it doesn't count towards the v02 max , would a strap as well count towards the v02.

Many thanks

  • You need to do an outdoor activity using GPS to get a VO₂max reading, regardless whether you use HRM-Pro or not. It does not work indoors. The strap does not really bring more metrics, it just makes the measurement of the HR, of Running Dynamics, of running power, cadence, steps, and even of pace and distance much more accurate than with the watch alone.
