HRM 600 compatibility

I own a epic gen 2 standard edition and I'm looking to buy a HRM 600, the issue I'm having is that I'm not sure whether it's compatible or not. The store page says it isn't but then Garmin supports lost says it does so I'm just looking for some concrete answers.

You will get HR from it and all running dynamics the Epix Gen 2 supports. But not step speed loss or how that new metric is called.
