HRM-Pro Plus Showing Low Battery Warning During Activity – Battery Status "Okay" in App

Post Content:

Hi everyone,

I'm using the Garmin HRM-Pro Plus with the latest firmware v8.90. Recently, I've received low battery warnings twice during activities, even though:

  • The Garmin Connect app, web dashboard, and watch all show the battery status as "Okay".

  • The device syncs successfully and records metrics without dropouts (so far).

  • Firmware is up to date.

  • Battery has not yet completed a full year of use (used approx. 1 hour/day).

I understand that battery voltage may dip under load, but this seems inconsistent — could this be a firmware bug or sensitivity issue in v8.90?

Has anyone else experienced this? Should I proactively replace the battery, or wait until the warning becomes persistent?

Would appreciate guidance or if Garmin support could look into this.

Thanks!

  • Havent had similar issues with mine

I would contact support (I normally start with the chat option) see base of this linked page

    support.garmin.com/.../

  • I had this very situation this week and I reached out to the Support Chat. I asked which to believe, the watch notification, the app or the Connect site. The support person told me to believe connect. I will leave the battery unchanged for now and give this a go. The HRM Pro is 10 months old and I have used it in activities for 75 hours.

I will feedback on my experience.

I would be interested in hearing the experience of 1691094

  • If you start seeing dropouts in the activity's Respiration Rate graph, then I would recommend changing the battery regardless of what the watch or Connect tell. Of course, if the RD or HR graphs show gaps, then it is the same case, but missing data on the Respiratory Rate graph usually occurs first, and is the easiest symptom to spot (though it may be also a sign of dry or damaged electrodes).

  • Hi RonHi,

Thanks for sharing your experience. As per my own usage, I found that the HRM-Pro Plus battery is indeed nearing the end of its life, but it doesn't need immediate replacement just yet.

In my case, I started seeing those low battery warnings during activity, like you did, but the Garmin Connect app and site still reported the battery status as "Okay". After a few more sessions, the Connect app eventually showed the low battery warning too. That was the point when I decided it was time to replace the battery.

So, for now, you can keep using it, but I’d recommend starting to look for a replacement cell and keeping it handy. That way you’ll be prepared once the app/site finally reflects the low battery status.

Let me know how it goes on your end.

  • Thanks, no drops in HR or RD. I will monitor

  • This is helpful. I will monitor and provide feedback.
