HRM Pro Plus smells of burnt electronics

My HRM Pro Plus heart rate monitor smells like burnt electronics or a burnt battery.
I've been taking it with me in the shower every now and then, and that helps reduce the smell somewhat. But this battery smell is just unfamiliar to me.
Any advice on how to get rid of this smell?

Discussed here multiple times, look up 'smell' or 'odour' keywords, it was somewhere at the top some months ago. but yes, i experience the same if you ask

Wash the strap every time after exercise.
