HRM Pro Plus showed lower and incorrect HR in the last part of the marathon

Hi.

During my first marathon I noticed that my watch suddenly showed lower and incorrect heart rate. After 3h HR stepped down. I checked settings and HRM was connected. When I disconnected and connected again it started to show correct HR but later the same happened. I had no time and power to repeat the same procedure, so during last kilometers I couldn't monitor my HR properly. I'm very disappointed. Has someone notice the same issue?

I have Enduro 2 and HRM Pro Plus

  • Not sure if its related but after a recent FW to the 965 that was done to make these "encrypted / open" changes required to sensor connections I had some issues with loosing connectivity.  I then un-paired and re-paired the HRM and its been stable since then. I also have source switching off. Im not sure of any similar updates / features applied to Enduro.

  • I don't think I can change here anything. It shows "open"

  • Nothing to worry about. ANT+ is always open and the preferred protocol for the HRMs as there is more data to gather.

Try loading the FIT file in fitfileviewer.com and compare wrist HR and external HR what might give you a clue. The watch might have preferred one over the other for some reasons at a certain point in the race.

  • Maybe watching HR live but when I stopped the activity it downloads data from the belt, right? You can see my last hour of marathon visible in Garmin Connect. Red HR line and pace. There is also visible the moment when I disconnected and connected the belt. No walking, just running.

  • That's why I said, get the FIT file (Export the activity from Garmin Connect Website) and load it in fitfileviewer.com. There the wrist heart rate and the external heart rate will be recorded as individual graphs - if your Garmin is capable of this. There you might find insight.

    Otherwise you should contact support...
