HRM pro plus bad readings

Anyone notice that even if it seems to work, it’s not giving reliable readings? It’s about 1 years old I think, but used a lot.
Around 5000km and a few battery changes.
It seems to be either to low or to high, usually to high, but still not so strange that it shows big spikes or so, just consistent high readings often, which affects Garmin VO2max for instance by a lot for a while now. I don’t think that my vo2max shrunk by 6 points in a few months, with the same training.

last time I had to exchange the hr strap, it poor readings showed on breathing rate, all the data there disappeared, and the hr kinda just filled in the blanks. But now it’s not really showing the same symptoms.

  • Mine went crazy reporting super high numbers. Garmin warranty is sending me a new one they said has been redesigned. No fuss support. Nice!

  • Great to hear, I’ve sent a mail to the support a few days ago about this.

did the support look at your activitys and saw something there?

  • Yes they looked at my account. I was on hold for a bit while she went through it.

  • As to bad readings. Aside from other possible interferences mention on the Garmin site, here is another one and I wish it could be corrected. I have from time to time Ventricular premature beats and my HRM reports BPM of over 200 (at Age 91 if true that would be very bad). On some of my bike trips I seem to have none or too few within a minute to have a real high BPM on others I have lots and even my average HR is obviously incorrect. My Apple iWatch is correct and in step with my manual counts when the HRM reports such high beats. Stopping for dinner at a restaurant and looking at my Edge 1040 solar had shown my HR as over 160 whereas my iWatch and manual count was in the low 70ties. My cardiologist having done lots of detailed tests as I also have Left Bundle Branch Block stated he is not concerned even if I have 20,000 VPB's a day. But this screws up other calculated data per Garmin Connect; i.e. those who take HR info into consideration. The iWatch unfortunately does not integrate with my Edge 1040 Solar hence my question would a Garmin watch be better then the Garmin HRM Pro Plus, assuming the Garmin watch is having only one senser like the iWatch v/s the HRM having two may not be confused by the VPB's or, much better, can the software of the HRM be changed to detect and ignore VPB's?
