HRM Dual stops working mid way through activity

I’ve had my HRM dual stop transmitting heart rate one and half hours into an activity. I know I have a new battery installed. It’s done this a few times already and very frustrating. I move it around and it starts transmission again but a very low heart rate and after few minutes stops transmitting. Anyone with similar experience. Thank you

  • I had my HRM Dual  less than a year and suddenly giving me issues. I have done the reset (upside down battery) and everything as advised. then it worked for about two workouts and then again my edge not "seeing" the HRM. so i repeated it all, again replaced with a brand new battery. this morning an hour in to my training got message the HRM battery is low and then just gone. i really take good care of it, make sure i hand wash my strap after each use, wipe off the pod.... really sad considering the cost. I will again try a new battery today but it almost seem like something is draining the battery

  • Same experiencee with a HRM Pro plus in combination with an edge 530. Disconnecet during a coffee break, did nod connect again.  Sensor reset, new battery, next day it worked fine until the coffee break after about 2 hours... disconnected, did not connect again. At home sensor reset, works fine again with the same battery.

    Very frustrating during a 100k ride. Please fix the problem!!

  • Yes i did resolve it i bought another brand Slight smile tired of struggling like this. plus no light on the device to know if it is even working or not. i got one for half the price of the Garmin and it works really well and come with excellent reviews. totally compatible with the garmin edge as well.

  • I am having the same problem, except in less than an hour of exercise, sometimes from the onset.  Tech Support doesn't offer much, only to clean the strap thoroughly once a week and clean the monitor itself after each use.

    I am using mine while rowing on a C2 erg.  I read somewhere on this forum about a HRM Dual update, but cannot find out how to do the update.

    I used an older HR monitor when I ran and cycled, but don't remember it being so particular in cleaning instructions.  

    If you find another solution to the problem please post.

  • Yes similar experience.. Very frustrating!!.. I see it happening even more so as soon as im doing CV in seated position..

    Wondering why no-one from Garmin is on this thread advising how to proceed?? (other than the upside down battery reset)  

  • I got on the phone w Garmin tech.  They sent me a new battery and said if that didn't work they would replace it.  The battery didn't solve the problem and they shipped a new unit.  So far so good, but it takes a good 15 minute warmup before it starts working.

  • Mine stopped working after washing the strap the first time. Adding some dielectric grease to the contacts worked (probably had grease from the factory that washed off). Thanks to someone on another forum for the advice. You can get at an auto parts store.
