HRM Pro Plus Running Dynamics missing data

Hi,

I just got the HRM Pro Plus strap. Under the running dynamics data most of the fields are missing. I know the watch is connected to the sensor because it tells me "foot pod connected". Why can't I see the data (on my phone post run) that the strap is collecting? I can understand it not displaying on the watch but why can't I download it from the strap to my Garmin app?

You need to connect via ANT+ to get the running dynamics data, I believe.

I am connected via ANT. But why can't the strap connect directly to my phone and give me the data? Does the strap require a Garmin watch? Because it doesn't say that anywhere in the marketing data.

The data is transferred to the GC from the watches that are paired with it. If the data is received by the “phone” and not by the GC , then it’s up to you to decide where to look for it on the phone.

I guess that's my question. Can the strap transfer directly to the Garmin app? It seems as if Garmin is blocking the data in the watch for some reason.

The GС application only accepts data from the watch, not from sensors. The data is not blocked, it's just that weaker (and cheaper) watches do not have the ability to receive and store it.
Therefore, each sensor has a list of compatible devices, see

That would be more believable if my watch didn't connect with the sensors. It's a foot pod built into a chest strap. Per Garmin the Venu is compatible with a foot pod so I'm struggling to believe this is anything more than a cash grab by Garmin. Fortunately I bought it on Amazon and can return it. I was debating between this and Whoop. Hopefully Whoop isn't a trash company like Garmin.
