HRM Pro Plus comes unhooked in use

Hi, seen a few comments linked to HRM Pro Plus coming unhooked in use but no update or solution. Anyone have a tip or trick to prevent?

Will try to use with different tension, more or less tight etc but wanted any view from others users also.

Thanks

Tony

  • I've had the same thing , I put a piece of run-bib tape across it now for races.

  • Only once or twice over many uses. Never quite sure why. Never done anything special to prevent a recurrence apart from ensuring it is fastened properly.

  • check the tension, you have to find the good tension and position

  • Here is an earlier post of mine on the matter.

As i noted I now use a piece of tape to secure the hook area when I do a race so I have piece of mind. It's only come undone twice ...but at critical points in a race.

  • You know what is interesting is that I had that exact same complaint about the HRM-TRI over three different replacements

However when I bought a HRM-Pro-Plus I was impressed how it seemed to hook much more solid and no complaints.

So now I realize it may vary on each production, where it depends on how careful the worker or the machine is to making the loop the hook goes into, mine is really snug.

It may be possible to sew the loop the hook goes into tighter.

I vaguely remember someone had a HRM-TRI blog post with various fixes that included the loop, I think they put a straw inside but my memory is fuzzy.

  • I don' know why the little lip at the base of the hook can't be a bit longer. That would make it more difficult for it to slide off.

  • Last week, I encountered a similar issue while driving to the trail for a run with my HRM-PRO Plus, sitting in the car. This morning, a similar situation occurred while running at a normal pace. I suspect that my cotton t-shirt or undershirt may be inadvertently causing the sensor to dislodge. Despite being advised by Garmin to wear a cotton shirt to minimize static interference, I am still experiencing issues, even with a plain white cotton Hanes undershirt. If this occurred during an important race, I would find it somewhat disheartening. Though the watch could compensate, I believe this issue could potentially impact my performance and focus. I think that incorporating silicone dots around the strap and back areas could potentially address this problem.

  • I use a piece of run bib tape across the hook to stop the hook coming loose during a race

  • Isn't that double-sided adhesive? Have a link or picture of what type you use?

  • As I use this for my race numbers , I use a piece across the join , I just dont take the one side of the backing off. Works like a dream. Im sure there are other solutions , but I like this instead of pins , so it was an easy solution for me.

Gives me pice of mind not to worry about the hook coming off.
