I have been struggling a while to update my Garmin HRM Pro to a new firmware level. In the connect app it shows update available from 8.10 to 8.80 but installing it fails each and every time. By now I tried the following options:
- Updating from the watch (update failed
- Updating from older iPhone (13 Pro Max iOS 16) which fails to transfer the firmware (near the end, the bar stops and goes red)
- Updating from newer iPhone (15 Pro Max iOS 17) which fails to transfer the firmware (near the end, the bar stops and goes red)
- Wearing the strap
- Putting the strap next to the phone
- Shutting down my watch (maybe it confuses connections?)
- Forced the phone to remain to not dim and keep the app in the foreground (frantically tapping the screen to keep it active)
- Just keep retrying (counter is at least at 30 attempts by now)
Each and every time near the end it will fail (my estimate is at about 90% of the bar completing). If I immediately try updating again (it offers again or cancel) it will not even start transferring and the bar remains empty and it fails after a while.
By now I'm more or less out of options I can think off. Anyone else experienced this behaviour and has a solution?
