HRM Pro doesn't transfer HR to garmin connect timeline when not in activity

I want to wear the strap without the watch and record hr and steps during that time, but it doesn't transfer the data to garmin connect. I think that when I bought it as it was freshly released it was tranferring said data, but after an update on the garmin server side it stopped. Now when I dn't wear my watch and wear the strap instead I get blank space on the HR chart on the garmin connect daily summary page. Can you fix this please or justify why it can't be done?

  • Have you checked that your HRM Pro is still paired with your phone and Garmin Connect Mobile? Maybe removing it and pairing again would help?

  • Yes I removed it and paired it again and wore it while I was charging my watch and I got a gap on my timeline

  • And your HRM Pro is visible in the device list of Garmin Connect Mobile Android, and it has a synchronization icon on the right? If that's true, it sounds strange. What watch do you have?

  • Forerunner 955 solar but it shouldn't matter. Anyway the belt records heart rate during workouts. As I wrote above the belt was recording HR on my timeline when I bought it, it stopped when Garmin made an update either server or / and belt I can't be sure.

  • Does anything happen when you press the synchronization icon of the HRM Pro in Garmin Connect? Does it seems to synchronize with the phone?

  • Yes it shows that it syncs no errors

  • That's really strange. I have a HRM Pro+ and Forerunner 965, and just today I went for a run (with the HRM Pro+ connected to the watch). After the run I plugged in the 965 for charging and continued to wear the HRM Pro+. When I took it off, it automatically synced with my phone and my HR graph shows HR from the time I just wore the strap.

So it sounds almost exactly what you did, except that it works... So I suggest you contact Garmin support for help, since it doesn't seem to be a widespread problem, but rather might be something in your particular setup (like a broken HRM Pro or something).

  • After the run did you stop the activity on your watch and saved it or did you leave it and saved it after you completed the charging of the watch?

  • Yes, I stopped and saved the activity first, then walked home (wearing both the watch and the strap, but the strap not connected to the watch). At home, I started charging the watch and continued wearing the strap before finally removing it and going to the shower. In Garmin Connect, there's only a gap in the HR when I was in the shower (not wearing anything). On my watch, the HR graph only shows HR until the end of the run, and then again when I started wearing the watch. So clearly the HR between those times came from the strap not connected to the watch.

  • I really do not get it, I switched off my watch and wore the strap and miraculously the HR during the time the watch was off synced on my timeline from the strap. I'll investigate further what causes it to not record. I was chatting with Garmin support and they claim that the HRM-Pro and PRO+ are not meant to record HR outside an activity, which is wrong, if you only know how to read Garmin's own FAQ.
