Non-watch tracker alternative

Hi,
I think I speak for myself and many more people who enjoy watches and want continuous data and to use the garmin ecosystem.

At the moment to get the data, for example, I cannot use my loved mechanical watches. Moreover, the are situation in which a person would simply want to be more dressy. In the end, a watch  or chest strap is really during an activity, and less so during rest time. My point is that there are some situation where I (and I believe many more users) would enjoy to get fitness data from a device that is not a watch, and still feed the data into garmin connect.

For example, if I am going to a wedding I would like to use the dressy mechanical watch but still get basic fitness data for the day during garmin connect. Then I could use my Instinct in selected days and during activities or sleep, but we would have the alternative to be more dressy or simply use different watches without sacrificing fitness and health tracking.

A solution that would be perfect would be either a band like whoop, wearable either as a bracelet or on the arm, which would be not so capital expensive to produce for gamrin given they already do chest bands. Or a smart ring. The goal would be to able to track data and feed it into garmin connect (mainly HR, to track fitness and recovery) when one does not want to use a smartwatch.

I hope with this post to engage the community  and show garmin market for this solution, which can be very simple if done through a band similar to whoop's one.

  • That would be great !
For example, I love my Forerunner 965, but it feels bulky on the wrist. I wish I could wear it to bed, so the algorithm could better track my heart rate variability and recovery.

  • Yes, I would also love a device like this, so that I can track HRV / Body Battery while sleeping. I hate wearing my watch to bed, so a ring would be perfect.

  • Would also love to have a woop like sensor only version. I have the epix2 52mm right now and keep that on during the night...A sensor only band would be much more comfortable! Also having the option to have a band and a mechanical clock would be great Thumbsup

  • I never realized how much ppl hate wearing their watch to bed. I actually don't mind. But I do miss wearing something other. I've not worn anything else other than my Garmin -- on a quotidian basis -- for quite a few yrs now. But I could never do a whoop and their annual fees that are basically another watch.

It would be interesting to have Garmin make this come to life. They do seem to have all they need for it to happen. I would likely get one as well as they are the few days a diff watch would be awesome. But I do like the solidarity in seeing another Garmin watch users. It has started many a random conversation!

  • I want to cast my vote for this as well. Like a previous commenter said, I have multiple mechanical watches that I love. But I am dedicated to my fitness and garmin is the the best tracker on the market. So I truly wish garmin would develop something for us! I would purchase it immediately!!!! Please garmin! Help us!

  • I think this is really smart. I love my mechanical watches yet never get to wear them. So I'm ideally Garmin get on this.

  • I would absolutely love a strap ( none watch ) to capture my data. The slimmer the better. I would love to get a Fenix but can't imagine a comfortable sleep with a chunky watch. I personally enjoy gym training without a watch so it would be a double bonus for me. I have a garmin cycle clock and only use my garmin watch for running. So a strap would be amazing for me for both gym, social and sleep! Take my money!!!

  • I am desperate for Garmin to release a whoop band equivalent, I wear my forerunner for running, use edge on the bike and wear mechanical watches when not doing an activity. The recording of data for sleep and recovery etc is really good, but can’t be that guy who wears two watches. A screenless tracker for steps and HR data to allow sleep and recovery recording…. DO IT GARMIN.

  • it exist and I showed Garmin a possibility to have an HR sensor placed at the bottom of the wrist in the watch belt. This will solve all issue of false HR
