HRM-Pro draining battery

I have a problem with my HRM-Pro. The battery is draining awfully. It seems like the sensor does not shut down or go to a sleep mode when not in use, as I sometimes get a notification about its connection to my Fenix 7 when there close enough ...
Anybody having the same kind of issue or a solution for that ?

Thanks a lot

  • Some information in the threads on the right of your post.

  • No real solution here but I think I found out what is causing the problem. One of the screw socket, the one that is slightly coming out of the device, is broken, thus permitting moisture to get in the battery compartment.

  • One of the screw socket

This happen to my 1st HRM-Pro.  On my 2nd Pro I coated the cover retention screws with di-electric grease right after pulling the HRM out of the box.  I now follow a 6mo routine of removing the cover and re-coating the screw threads.  So far, so good.

  • you can not do anything aside of contacting garmin and see if they replace it. i have same issue when i use it in open water swim. used many types of battery but it did not work, good thing mine replaced by garmin. once the electronic chip inside got moisten no chance of repairing it.

Just like to add here that the problem has nothing to do with swimming directly. It comes down to the screw fittings on the battery cover. After removal the battery cover is refitted incorrectly, possibly damaged, and/ or the seal is not seated properly. This is the reason why water, under any circumstances, or sweat can get in. Refitting the battery cover is a fiddly process to get right but it is possible. Garmin have addressed the problem that some people have with the battery cover with the HRM-Pro+ that has a twistable battery cover without any screws.

As noted, the solution is to contact Garmin Support. I understand they have been good at providing replacements.

  • Indeed, I got an upgraded replacement for the Hrm-pro+ through the online shop I originally purchased my chest strap, without further questioning.

Hope the twisting battery compartment cover holds better.

    Thanks again
