Constant micro-drops from HRM-Pro, when cycling only

Devices:

HRM-Pro

Fenix 7X

Connected via ANT+, both softwares up to date

I have been using both these devices for quite some time now, without any issue. But since a bike ride on May 7th, I have now been having terrible connectivity between the two, when biking only (I go running and swimming often and rarely get any drop), on 2 occasions.

During the biking session, it manifests as the heart rate field value freezing for a couple seconds, then showing "--" for 5 to 10 seconds, then showing "71" and slowly climbing back up to my actual heart rate (sometimes it doesn't even get there before freezing again) for another 5 to 10 seconds, then freezing again, and repeating that cursed loop ad-nauseam.

So I can't really follow a strict heart zone anymore because I can only see my actual heart rate very occasionally. It also completely falsify my intensities for the workout.

I am posting about this very specific behavior here because I couldn't find anyone else talking about it. Any idea what could this be?

For the record, I did try:

- wetting the nodes again

- readjusting the strap

- turning my watch on and off

- turning my strap connectivity on and off through "sensors and accessories"

None of those things fixed the issue, the heart rate still eventually dropped on and on soon after.

Changing the battery?

I thought about it but garmin connect and my watch both tell me that the battery level is "ok", and also, if it is a battery issue, why does it not happen at all during a run? (swims are a little different as they only load the hr data all at once post-swim)

No idea but stranger things have happened. For me the battery is always the first thing to change irrespective of what GC tells me about the status of the battery.

I also assume, that you try to change the battery.

Some time ago, I had connection errors with HRM Pro (mainly Bluetooth, but also ANT+, when my Smartphone with BT was in Range).
Not so many dropouts like you have, but still a few.

Connect App and watch told me that battery was ok, but only two or three runs later, battery was suddenly reported to be low. Change of battery fixed all connection problems instantly.

When I had similar behavior was a problem of strap adjusting. It's looks that with the time maybe I reduced few millimeters my torax and also the strap elong few others with time and the use. I shorterned few millimeters and problem solved.

Battery it's another common suggestion from Garmin Support to check, but not was my case.

Also on very cold days I have few erratic readings at the start of the activity, that normally are corrected between the first 10 minutes of the activity.
