Any chance of the Forerunner 55 giving access to running diagnostics on garmin connect? Paired with HRM Pro Plus

Hey guys, I have the Forerunner 55 and the HRM Pro Plus. I found out recently that with my watch I can't access the running diagnostics ie vertical displacement, GCT etc. Will this feature be added at some point to access in Garmin connect at the least? Or do I just have to suck it up and upgrade the watch?

Thanks in advance

  • Will this feature be added at some point to access in Garmin connect

    Most probably not, no.

When used as single device (without watch), the HRM Pro (+) will basically log HR and steps and send it to GC. That’s it.

Everything else only works in combination with a SUPPORTED watch (e.g. running dynamics or starting activities on the watch, leave it behind and getting logs from HRM Pro when you return and stop the activity).

Or do I just have to suck it up and upgrade the watch?

If you really want running dynamics, most probably yes.

Comment from my side, regarding running dynamics: I did not have it for years when I used HRM Dual, since I upgraded I have it. In my opinion, you are not missing much.
It‘s nice to have, but not much more.

Distances, HR, Paces and even Cadence is more important to me and you already have that.

  • Thanks for the question and the answer here. I was just wondering about adding a HRM Pro Plus.

This lack of support seems completely arbitrary. I struggle with Garmin's choices and pricing, but have to trust they know what they are doing. This will have me looking for competitive options outside the Garmin world, when otherwise I'd not have considered any other manufacturers. The Forerunner 55 has been an awesome product in all other regards, perhaps too awesome :-)
