Hi!
Why am I getting these big gaps in the Graph? I'm wearing a HRM Pro Plus. Is there a reason why it stops measuring my respiration rate? Am I perhaps wearing it incorrectly? Any help is appreciated!

When I have had HR sensing issues it is also often correlated with loss of Respiration rate. So something is amiss, could be things like static, strap slipping location too high/low, low moisture on sensor pieces on chest, or low battery (have you gotten notice of low battery?).
COuld have been something as simple as it lost track of your breathing due to irregular breathing, wiping sweat or getting a drink or two. All seem to thorw my HRM-dual off a bit when it is already reading poorly.
Not really sure what draws down battery on these as they always seem a little bit 'awake' but, I just started getting low battery alerts and having issues a bit before that (not sure if related, time will tell, kept thinking I had a bad strap or two).
I just replaced it after roughly 500hours of training with it on (11months)
Respiration is very dependent on good HRV data so if the strap is moving, which can happen during intervals etc, or not thoroughly wet/moistened, that might explain the gaps. Could try tightening the strap a little as well as making sure it's thoroughly wet.
I have seen significant problems with my HRM Pro Plus. The respiration data is essentially missing. It is better, but far from perfect, when using an HRM Pro. Since both straps are using ANT+, this is no a watch or a connection issue.
I have a similar workout pattern on Wednesdays and Fridays: 2 hours of various martial arts (low/sporadic HR intensity) and 1 hour of strength training. Both have low/sporadic HR intensity. I used the HRM Pro Plus one day and the H10 another day.

I attribute the issue to the lack of sweating and dry electrodes. Note that I tried gel for the HRM Pro Plus session above, but not with the Polar H10.
As I pay attention to this data these days, I can see that the Polar H10 is more resilient to dryness than the HRM Pro Plus to some extent.
For running activities, I always wet the strap before going and I observe a similar pattern, with overall better data quality because of wetter electrodes

Polar H10
Based on the above, I'd wear an H10 to get the best respiration data.
Respiration data could be an indication of how good the HRV data is.
In this case, both the HRM Pro Plus and the H10 would eventually provide good HRV data for a run or a bike workout with enough warm up to provide reliable estimates of HR threshold.
Finally HR bpm data doesn't seem to be affected
I checked my history and it might be not only strap electrodes moisture because what I saw it was some correlation between HR graph and respiratory graph and external temperature.
For all runs I did in temperature above 20 degrees celcius HR graph looks like should (no elevated HR at the beginning) and no gaps in respiratory graph (or very small gaps), also no gaps for indoor runs.
It is repitable with HRM-Pro and HRM-Pro plus connected to Fenix 7X and Fenix 6X.
Such behaviours I was also able to see on Fenix 6X connected with HRM-Run4 I had earlier.
And never saw it on graphs from Fenix 3 connected with the same HRM-Run4.
I’m always using ANT+ connection.
Somebody suggested that it might be static electricity but I doubt it, and as I had same routine for all my runs only what is changing is temperature.
Since I started to use ECG gel it looks better but also not always.
I been experience this with my epix with 2 separate hrm pro plus. ( missing respiration data gaps and spikes in HR )
this is also causing my Lactate threshold guided test not to work or update since feb ( 5 months ago )
missing respiration data probably means cant detect HRV defelction point during lactate threshold test and during my hard tempo/ threshold runs
any update on your situation ?
