All Garmin HRM show elevated Heart rate when beginning a run

So i Have an HRM Dual, HRM pro and HRM Pro plus.  Every single one of them shows a heart rate 30 to 40 beats high for the first Kilometer of a run.  I thought it was just my HRM Pro, but its all of them.  This is across multiple watches, i have seen the issue with my Fenix 6X, forerunner 945 LTE and Apple Watch Ultra.  WTF, doesn't happen when cycling, just running and Garmin does nothing about it.  You can see as soon at the run starts… right to 160bpm

  • I showed such graphs earlier.
And this is still inconsistient, today I did another run, same routine, ECG get used to moisture strap electrodes and I got nice and expected HR graph with no elevation, also only one, small gap in breath graph.

  • Not bad idea but I’m thinking it might be more related to temperature otside and sensor temperature, I’ve checked some of my runs with temp above 20 Celcius degrees and indoor runs and I don’t have elevated HR at the beginning for such runs.
But today I did my run with 7 degrees, used ECG gel and also no HR elevated at the beginning.

  • I think static electricity is caused by warm dry synthetic clothing that you wear in cold weather.
  • as soon as the sweat begins to stand out, everything is normal
  • I would say maybe in some situation might be but not in my case.
Look to my today workout, same cloths for cold, same routine, strap electrodes moistured with ECG gel and it is how my HR graph look:

    And breath:

  • Which would suggest the strap needs some moisture before you start, I've always thoroughly soaked my strap in water (always warm because it's more comfortable that way) before starting any activity. Some use ECG gel but that has a cost whereas water is free! Find what works for you and meets your preference.

It might be like that but I checked my previous runs and I saw corelation between graphs and outside temperature.
Basically, if otside temprature goes above 20 degrees celcius all these isues disappeares.
I have comparision with HRM-Pro plus, HRM-Pro and HMR-Run4 with Fenix 7X and Fenix 6X and results are very similar.
As my routine was always the same only what changes is temperature.

If somebody will argue that I was wearing different cloth due to temperarture I didn’t, I feel comfortable do my runs in t-shirt with 15 degrees and 25 degrees.

  • Today, next run, temp around 3 degrees celcius and HR and breath graphs looks as expected:

External sensor - HRM-Pro plus, strap electrodes moistured with ECG gel.
