Has the 8.80 firmware for the HRM-Pro been pulled?

Bought a HRM Pro to see how the chest strap works for me with regards to estimating pace and distance on the treadmill.

Connected it to my watch, as well as Garmin Connect, and updated the firmware through Garmin Connect. It only gave me version 8.10, and both the watch and Garmin Connect keeps insisting that this is the up to date version. Can't find any files to try a manual update through Garmin Express either.

Obviously a bit of a bummer, as it means I've shelled out for a new strap that now has no extra functionality compared to my five year old and fully functional HRM-Run.

Suggestions?

  • The update has not been pulled.

    Couple of things to try:

Put the strap on, connect the watch to the strap. Check in Sensors and Accessories that the watch is connected. See if it updates.

If that does not work have a look in your watch’s REMOTESW folder. If there are any .gcd files there delete them. Connect to Garmin Express and see if you get offered the update again. If so, download the update  then try to update again with the strap connected to the watch.

If you still cannot update contact Garmin Support.

  • Thanks for the suggestions! No luck with any of these possible fixes, so I guess I'll have to contact support and hear what they've got to say.

  • Forgot also to suggest the following:

Remove the watch from Sensors and Accessories.

Remove the battery from the sensor module. Put it in reversed and leave it for around 30s before replacing it the right way.

Connect to the watch in Sensors and Accessories then see if you can get an update.
