BLE connection between Garmin HRM-Pro and 955 not available.

I am unable to work out how to connect my HRM-Pro to my Garmin 955 via bluetooth.  I was told this is a workaround for me to disable the power feature native to Garmin so I can use my Stryd and upload only the Styrd data to TrainingPeaks/WKO5.

I have my Stryd connected and I removed my HRM-Pro as a sensor and added it back as only a HR Sensor, but always the watch connects via ANT+.

Going for a run in 30 mins so will see if power is still reported from both Stryd and HRM-Pro.

In general ANT+ sensors connect faster so the BLE mode won't connect. What I do with dual mode sensors is adding the ANT+ and the BLE variants, and then set the one I don't use to Off.

  • On my fenix 6X (and fenix 5+) with the HRM-Pro connected and active the connection type can be changed from ANT+ to BLE as follows:

    1. From the watch face long press UP|MENU key
    2. Scroll down to Sensors & Accessories and press START key
    3. Scroll down to the entry for you HRM-Pro and press the START key
    4. [With Status showing Connected] Scroll down to Connection Type ANT+ and press the START key
    5. Scroll down to BLE and press the START key
    6. Long press the BACK|LAP key to return to the watch face

If the menu structure is different on the Forerunner 955 check the manual for how to get to the Sensors & Accessories section.
