Pairing Garmin devices

Hello,

I have the following devices: Heart rate chest strap (ANT+ & BT), Garmin Forerunner 245 and Garmin Edge Explore. I have 2 questions.

  1. Is there a way to pair my HR-strap to my Garmin Forerunner 245 and then broadcast that Heart rate from my watch to my garmin EDGE gps? Or does the watch only broadcast wrist rate?

  2. If I remove the HR-strat does my watch automatically switch over to wrist rate?

Thanks.

  • 1. Only the built-in sensor data is broadcast. However, if you want heart rate data on both devices, then why don't you just pair and connect the strap to both the FR245 and the edge?

    2. The watch will switch over to the built-in sensor whenever the strap disconnects from the watch, and sometimes, even if you don't wear it, the strap still sends data. But in most cases simply removing the strap will cause the watch to switch to the built-in sensor after a while.

  • Thank you very much for your answer. Can I pair the strap with both the GPS and the watch using ANT+?

  • Yes. ANT+ allows you to connect a sensor to an unlimited number of devices.
