Respiration Rate drops out running with HRM-Tri and Descent Mk2

I use an HRM-Tri chest strap with a Descent Mk2 watch. It's supposed to show Respiration Rate but sometimes that drops out even though Heart Rate is recorded correctly. Does anyone know how to make it work reliably? Here's an example from a run yesterday. Both devices have the latest firmware and the chest strap battery status shows as OK.

The exact same thing happens to me on about half of my runs. I am using a HRM-RUN chest strap and a Fenix 6. It only happens at the start for around a mile.

This thread actually answered a question I had about respiration.

My first run also showed a big gap in respiration at the first 10min of the activity. I assume it's a connection issue associated with not having the strap wet, or possibly just a matter with the HR ramping up to quickly during the first few mins of the run?

I have been dabbing some water on the HRM electrodes since your post and the problem has gone away. I have been thinking for a long time it was just me ramping up during my early morning runs but that was not the case. Thanks!

I have been soaking mine in warm water before every run for years..
