HRM PRO abnormally high values during first minutes

Seeing that the oscillometer of my new Fenix 6s pro unfortunately does not give reliable measurements, I bought the HRM PRO strap as well. But it seems that this, too, the first 8 minutes shows very high values and then returns to normal levels. Having already experienced from my previous watch a fenix 5s in combination with the HRM DUAL strap, I made a 10 km ride while wearing both of these sets. It is clear that in the first 8 minutes, HRM PRO shows abnormally high values, while HRM DUAL shows a smooth increase. After 8 minutes these two straps show the exact same measurements. My question is which strap gives the correct measurements in the first 8 minutes and whether the measurements of those 8 minutes of HRM PRO affect the final measurements.

Try some of the common "fixes."

I frequently get the same when using the HRM-Run. Compared to older chest straps which are almost always accurate from the start. If it's really bad and throwing off my metrics for the entire activity, I'll edit the fit file to smooth out the data.

The point is that HRM PRO is the last Garmin's chest strap, and i was expected accurate measurements, without the need of fit file modificatios....

It's a new strap (i bought it a week ago), so I think I have to contact Garmin Support.

Yet it's similar to the advice Garmin has always given for their straps.

If you've been putting the strap on dry then chances are that it was the problem.

TIP

Use warm water. it's more comfortable lol!

You need to use a very tiny amount of contact gel or aloe vera gel on the pads

This is a common problem on all HRM straps (except optical obviously) where there is not enough sweat or moisture on your skin the first few minutes to make good contact.

Thanks for your advice. For now, my strap works fine after total immersing in tap water. If I have problems in the future I'll go to gel.

Exactly the same issue here. Stopping after a few minutes and let the heartrate go down fixed it. Seem like there is some kind of calibration going on. To be honest its quite disappointing for such an expensive product. I will try to make it even more wet from the start, but putting your hrm under water before start running doesn't give a great impression of the product... Never had this with older Garmin hrm straps.
