HRM-RUN durability

Is the HRM-Run durable (ie will last 2+ years)?  I'm looking into getting one, but some of the amazon reviews are quite worrisome, especially after a battery change.  Does anyone have experience with this?  In addition, does buying one from amazon come with the garmin warranty?

  • Hi, yes it should last at least 2 years. I have one for 5.5 years, and it's still working - my son is using it now while I just upgraded to the HRM-Pro. For most of the time, I used it at least once a week. I think I had to change only twice the battery. Maybe 3 times.

Which HRM-Run do you have? The original from 2015

    Or the revised HRM-Run?

I believe you'll find that there were a lot of issues with the revised version. I personally went through 2 of these. Replacing the battery had no impact. First one Garmin replaced, as it died after 10 months of use. The  2nd one died shortly after the 1-year warranty expired.

  • Battery replacement, you should leave the battery out for 5 min, before you insert a new one.

Some suggest shorting the battery terminal, inside the HRM-Run. To discards the capacitor.  Do it on your own risk.

This is the same for both the original og new HRM-RUN
