Cannot add kettler cross trainer as a sensor to fenix 6

Hi,

I'm trying to add my cross trainer as a sensor to Garmin Fenix 6x. Let me recap the procedure and then describe the problem:

  1. I'm turning on Bluetooth on my Kettler Optima 600
  2. I'm going to sensors on Fenix 6.
  3. I'm looking for a new sensor.
  4. The sensor is added but not connected.
  5. The display in the trainer is displaying pin to be used to pair.
  6. When trying to connect to the sensor new pin is displayed on the trainer but there is no option to enter it on the watc.
  7. Finally, after couple of tries, the connection on watch will timeout.

What I actually want is to see trainings in Garmin Connect so if there is any way I can record the activity using different plugin/application/method and then automatically synch with Garmin Connect I will be happy to consider :)

Please let me know, it's very frustrating, I especially paid for more expensive trainer to do that....

BR,

Alek

  • Just looking at the Kettler website for the Optima 600 product page here https://kettlersport.com/de-de/crosstrainer/optima-600/ there's no mention of it transmitting in a way that can connect to Garmin watches (or any other brand of watch for that matter), Kettler just mention connecting to smartphones or tablets with bluetooth and using the Kinomaps app.  The only things I'm aware of that can pair with the Fenix 6 series (and MARQ, 945 and 745 watches) are indoor bike smart trainers using the ANT FE-C protocol (and the Fenix 6 can also talk to the PM5 on Concept 2 Rowing machines, via ANT FE-C, with the latest 12.77 beta software installed).  If your Kettler transmits a Bluetooth power meter or speed/cadence sensor signal, it may be possible to pair the Fenix to those signals and record the activity with the indoor bike app; but otherwise I think you are expecting functionality that neither Kettler or Garmin said they have.

  • I've the same issue with my Fenix 6 and Kettler Cross 4.1, they see each other but no place where to enter the PIN in the watch once paired...
