BEST GARMIN Strap ever - the venerable 010-10997-00! Built like a tank!

I just want to say that after all new garmin straps failing, HRM-DUAL, HRM-RUN, HRM-this and that (*) - this is the trusty one hanging in my closet that I come back to:

THE BEST GARMIN Strap ever - the venerable 010-10997-00!

(Can be found on ebay and other places)

It is built like a tank! Battery change after battery change... Soaked in sweat for ten years, keeps hauling and pushing!!
Measures the rate evenly, where the new ones flatline and spike. The most durable sensor.

Garmin! Build an HRM-PRO like the old ones! So we get running metrics with quality LIKE A TANK!

YEAH! CAPS!

Take care everyone, run handsomely! GrinBlush

  • For durability, it is still the best. However, a pain to wear. Surprised I don't have a permanent scar on my sternum.Astonished

Overall, for comfort, durability and quality of output, I have to say the transmitter from the Garmin Premium HRM snapped to the Polar WearLink+. strap. I have been using it for 10 years. Tried the HRM-Run. 3 of them died. First 2 on Garmin's dime, the 3rd one was out of warranty.

  • I do not understand why people keep buying all of that new integrated style straps. Incredibly expensive and they have a very short life span as I read. Either the strap or the integrated pod dies.

The very best version was/is the removable pods with soft straps. Everything replaceable, comfortable and relatively cheap.

That old hard plastic things were maybe indestructible, but unconfortable and they had compatibility issues.

Exactly what I'm doing, as mentioned in my post above.

  • I do not understand why people keep buying all of that new integrated style straps.

Because of the additional features they provide, for example.

The very best version was/is the removable pods with soft straps.

I think the issue here is providing a working solution for swimming. Straps with removable pods, where the connectors are exposed to water, would not work well when submerged, I guess.

But yeah, when all you need is heart rate for running (or other non-water sports), then obviously a removable pod is very practical.
