HRM Dual acting weird (inconsistent or seemingly false numbers) I have it paired with the Forerunner 220. Battery issue?

HRM Dual not registering HR when walking or stopped, at times showing low HR in the middle of my runs and occasionally showing HR decreases significantly (150 down to 104) over the last 1/2 mile of my run. I have it paired with the Forerunner 220.

I've had the monitor and been using it since Sept. 2018.  Is this a battery issue? A hardware issue?  A software issue?

Same issue of erratic HR. I can be walking or slow jog but my HR goes up to 212! Yet I can still hold a decent conversation. Today, I ran tempo and my HR did not even raise above 130bpm. I am using same device FR220.

I have tried different probable solution without much success. Changed strap, tried different placement on chest (including slightly to left of the chest) as well as shaved my chest hair. I even replace Garmin HRM to Magene HR64 last week. Can I safely deduce that it may not be the strap or HRM issue but probably the watch itself.

  • It’s the strap. I am going to assume Garmin never looks at these posts because they know this. Riding today I stopped and my Instinct watch said my HR was 122, I manually took my rate and that is right. At the same time my chest strap connected to my Edge 500 said my HR was 230, yes right. New battery, new strap, total crap. The HR strap has never given a decent reading.
