Does hrm tri count your steps?

Hello, I used the Cardio training program today with the hrm tri band connected. The watch stayed at home. I came back paired with the app training, everything was nice but no steps were charged. Is this cardio fault? Does hrm tri count your steps?

For the daily step count only the watch can count steps. No external accessory will do it.
