Polar chest straps that work with Forerunner 230?

Hello,

I am looking for a chest strap HRM that will work with my Forerunner 230. I have not been impressed with the stock Garmin chest HRM that came with the watch. It doesn't stay tight and doesn't register my HR once I start sweating.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Any Polar, Wahoo, etc sensor will work with your Garmin as long as it is ANT+ communication. The HRM-Dual from Garmin is pretty solid and handles sweat just fine. Putting it through washing machine...…

Did it come with the HRM Dual? Did you put new batteries in the HRM since you got it? Since Garmin came out with the HRM-Run I haven't had any issues with it. It is comfortable, accurate, and always connects. Since the 230 was released in 2015 they have improved their HRMs as well. If you still want to go with a Polar, just look for something that is "ANT+" compatible.

The transmitter has a battery (CR2032) that can be replaced. It's only $2 at the most and could possibly fix your issue with it not registering your HR consistently.

Thanks everyone!! I'll test the battery first, if it still gives me errors I'll try a newer chest strap. Is the Garmin RHM-Run compatible with the Forerunner 230? I just checked the garmin website and it didn't have it listed.
