Foot pod calibration with 945 Forerunner

Checking myself on my math and understanding of the calibration steps. Background, I run on primarily on a curved treadmill at home and noticed my watch was always way off from the monitor. Also off on regular treadmill too but not has much.

I Marked the belt on my treadmill. Did 3 measurements to check length of belt, one with tape and measuring between the tape to come up with 145.5”s. I then used a tape wheel and slowly spun the belt stopping at the marked spots and had 145”s three times. So essentially 3.68 meters, 12.08 feet and 145”.

Determined the revolutions for .25 mile and 402 meters. 109.24 revolutions by the way. So I rounded to 109. 402/3.68 and took a mile converted to inches (63,360) divided by 4 (15,840) again divided by 145 for 109.24 for my revolutions.

Easier for me to just count up to a number rather than trying to count while watching the distance.

I did 6 repeats counting the revolutions till 109 immediately stopping the belt (joys of a curved self powered treadmill) belt might have went another 1/4 which would make exactly the correct revolutions.  The treadmill measured 370/370/368/370/369/370 (meters) so 370 on average. 32 short.

My Watch with foot pod was .28/.28/.29/.28/.28/.28

So divided the distanced actually traveled .25 by distanced reported .28 and got 89.28. I calibrated the foot pod to 90 and did a few more attempts and the watch would hit .25 either on 108 or right after 109 revolutions but the treadmill monitor still read 370 so that part was accurate.

Does this all sound correct for an indoor calibration? I’m trying to get indoor distances closer. I know .03 isn’t a lot but over and hour we’re talking over half mile off which really messes with pace and heart rate training.

Thank you, I know it’s a lot.
