HRM Dual Heart rate stuck at 72

I have the HRM Dual. I just bought it two weeks ago. I've gone on about 9 runs with it. During my last run, it worked perfectly for about 45 minutes and then my heart rate descended to 72. It has not moved since. It has been several days and it is very clean. It has no problem hooking up to my phone via bluetooth and connects just fine as soon as I strap up. However, the heart rate is stuck at 72 and doesn't move. Any ideas?

  • I returned mine for a refund, then got a Wahoo tickr which was also faulty, which I returned for a refund also. Life's is now simpler without HRMs

  • Same problem worked for a month then stopped

    not reliable

  • J’ai eu ce problème. Résolu en décalant légèrement le capteur de fréquence cardiaque vers la gauche

    Translation:

I had this problem. Solved by shifting the heart rate sensor slightly to the left

Merci beaucoup (forgive my high school French).

It worked - I find it strange as it did work for a month in the central position as described in documentation, but if I move it so the right edge of the sensor is on the middle of the sternum it works.

    Garmin should document this fact.

    Thank you for helping.

  • It's just typical of Garmin products. As a matter of fact, I'm struggling to get this damn forum to work! Sorry, wish I had better information for you, maybe Garmin could chime in?

  • I had the same issue with my HRM dual. 72bpm when transmitted over Bluetooth (even when not connected to a strap!) and no reading over ANT+. When I opened my HRM I noticed it was a bit wet under the battery. I removed battery, poured some isopropanol inside, dried it with a paper towel and let is dry out completely over night in a warm, dry place (open, without battery). Next day I put it back together and it works flawless again!

  • I got the replacement band a few days ago. Today I went to run and I got 72 bpm all the time. I even removed 1 of the 2 contact "buttons" during run, and it kept showing 72. I'm not sure if it's (only) a problem with the HRM-SS or also with my new Fenix 6?

  • I had this problem - HR was stuck on 72 on my Apple Watch. I read the replies below, and then tried turning off Bluetooth on my iPhone; problem fixed!

  • This is still relevant. Are garmin representatives watching this forums. My Garmin HRM dual is doing this stuck thing after 1 hour of usage from my GF. I wrote in out bike club about it and seem other people in the club have same problems with other garming straps but same result getting stuck. I cannot reset the battery as the Dual HRM screws are terrible to unscrew.

2 years later are develpers doing anything to make an update on this or something or we should just buy Polars instead...
