Fenix 5 switches off when indoor bike activity selected when a wattbike atom

I use a Fenix 5 Plus watch for my workouts on a Wattbike Atom. Recently the Garmin software was upgraded to be able to pre-load Training Peaks workouts onto Garmin devices. Since, the software upgrade the Fenix turns itself off when I'm selecting the indoor bike activity on the watch in the vicinity of the Wattbike Atom.

I spoke to Wattbike support, who told me that this was a Garmin problem and that they had received lots of complaints regarding this happening to other Wattbike users.

Could you clarify what the problem, and potential solution is?
