Fans stop, USB power shuts down, ERROR during rides

Dear all

Had now couple times always the same issues. When I ride on Tacx a virtual course, suddendly and regularly:

- The Fans stop to work

- Power if attached iPad/Iphone shuts down

- On the display ERROR shows up

This happens 2-4 times in one minute. Then stops again and repeats like 10 min later.

It happens especially after 300W power on the pedals. But also on low Watts. So I didn’t figure out why.

When I then go into the Tacx Utility app, no Error messages are shown.

Ipad is connected with Bluetooth and power cable, same with iPhone and a Ant HRM from Garmin.

Any same experiences?

I've had this problem for several months now - when I turn power on to the bike the fans spin up for about half a second, but then stop and "Error" flashes away at the top of the display. There's also no power from the USB ports. I have a spare display/fan unit from my original bike which had to be exchanged, so I've tried connected that instead but I get exactly the same, so it would seem that the problem is with the electronics inside the frame rather than the head unit. The bike still seems to work OK and still talks with Zwift, plus I've not been training much due to injury, but I need to try to get this sorted now not least because it's getting warmer so I'm beginning to miss those fans.

my situation has worsened. when i connect the power supply, the rear device fan immediately spins up and stays high, the light under the bike turns on full red. the display never goes on, the resistance when pedalling is very low, the front fans also never turn on. bluetooth connection is not possible, neither with tacx utility nor with tacx training app.

interestingly, when pedalling at a certain level, the read device fan spins lower. there is still some device electronic working, but certainly in an awkward way.

Yes, same problem here, USB ports cut out, fans stop and the ERROR message appears briefly. Happened about 15 times on one 30 mile ride!

Hi Neil, did you solve the problem? Since yesterday I have the same problem, the bike seems to work properly, but Fans and USB ports do not work.

Hi, it ended up being a warranty replacement for me.

If they agree for you to send yours back, I suggest you ask them if they have stock to replace it. When I asked, they weren’t expecting any for another month so we agreed that I’d check with them then if they did, and if so initiate the return. That way I was only without it for about 4 days I think, as my old one was still usable while I waited for them to get stock.
